Riding the Rails..

Last week end Dale and I too a Railroad trip to Fairbanks it was a 12 hour train ride. It was so Beautiful and nice to be alone with Dale. We had been sick the up until the day we left so it was nice to just sit on the train and watch the scenery.

Getting on the train Tickets in hand believe it or not it's almost 9am and the sun is still not up....This is a shot of the train station from the train.Dale and I on the Train watching the scenery go by...You can see the ice chunks in the frozen river.. Some of the chunks were sticking strait up and were so blue.. It was pretty neat. This was in the middle of no Mans land we were surprised to see this women and her dog just happily waving at the people in the Train.Just had to add this pic Because Dale was being such a dork when I tried to get a pic of him...This was neat too look at..This was just a breathtaking view. We were on a bridge with a death drop on either side. The Train just stopped right on the bridge The opened up the top half of the doors so we could take some pix.. It was kinda scary and trilling at the same time.Looking down at the death drop...Dale was trying to get the front of the train . You can barley see it...This is a pic of me in front of the Christmas tree they had up in the hotel we stayed at it was very nice and the food was great...Dale and I at the Airport waiting for our plain to get in it was late and we were kinda getting board. Our plane it finely arrived a half hour late. It was a nice short trip home about 45 mins. We had such a good time it was tons of fun to be just Dale and I...

Wow! Whata trip! I can't wait 'til Ian and I can do something like this again. Alas, it will have to wait until the AF has us back. I'm so jealous, but even more elated for you guys! You look so happy! You crack me up!

Beautiful pictures, the views are amazing. What a great chance to be alone and share an adventure. :) I always wanted to take an Alaskan cruise, but that train trip looks awesome too.

Looks like you had a great time! The huge drop looks pretty scary!! I do not like being stuck on bridges, and I've never been on one quite that high before! A couple of the pics look like pencil drawings almost! Very nice! May have to come up to Alaska someday although I think it's cold enough here! ;)

Wow that looks like an amazing trip! What city are you guys in? My hubby left Fairbanks in 2003 after being at Eielson AFB for 8 years.
