Last post of 2010!!

This has been a great year I can't believe how fast it has gone by.

We are saying goodbye to 2010 by hanging out and acting goofy.

Setting off fireworks

and watching fireworks.

Happy new year!!

I am that girl:(

I never understood how somebody could start something and never finish it.
Like a book who starts a book and never fishes even if it's poorly written or boring I finish the book, the only time I have never finished a book was when it was so vulgar and nasty.
Sewing and craft projects I never understood why somebody would start a project just to leave it hanging.
Well I guess I under stand now because I have become that girl.
I have 15 unfinished sewing projects. Yikes.
I didn't even know it until I cleaned out my sewing bins looking for a scarf I started before Christmas that I put away in my haste to clean the house for a showing.
I was shocked as I found project after project that I had started and almost fished but stopped for some reason.
I guess I am just that unfinished project girl now.
For a little while anyways.
My goal if to finish all my unfinished projects next week.

HEADBANZ

This is a super fun game!!

Kadie and Dan got the game for the kids for Christmas.
They loved it!!
The idea of the game is to guess what card is on your head you get to ask the other players questions to help you figure it out.
Mylissa was doing awesome at the game until.

Dale pointed out to the other players that she was seated in front of the mirror.
If you want lots of laughs this is the game for your family..

365 days of pictures and blogging..

As I was reflecting over my goals for 2010 I couldn't help but think of what my goals of 2011 would be.
I know for sure that I want to blog with more meaning, and keep a better pictorial journal.
So I decided to take a picture every day of 2011 and blog about it.
I will still have regular post , you might hear more about me and my life than you want to.
I also hope to get back into scrap booking this year and hopefully share more crafting post.
I also hope to meet more blog friends and be a better commenter than I am.

I am also inviting my blog readers to do keep a 365 day pictorial journal on your blogs.
If you choose to play a long let me know so I can comment and take a peek into your lives.

To die for pecan pie!

I never made a pecan pie until Thanksgiving.
I was surprised at how easy it was.
This pecan pie recipe is the best I have ever eaten.
I may not have ever made pecan pie  until recently but I have eaten my fill.
Ingredients
One pie crust unbaked bought or made
1 cup of white sugar
3 table spoons of brown sugar
1/2 teas spoon of salt
1 cup of corn syrup
1 tea spoon of vanilla
1/3 of a cup of salted butter
3 whole eggs beaten
1 cup of chopped pecans
Heat oven to 350

Beat the eggs in a mixing bowl then add every thing but the pecans.
Mix every thing thoroughly.
pour pecans in unbaked pie shell then add the mixture.

Now that every thing is in the pie shell, put tin foil around the pie shell.
bake for 30 minuets.
Remove tin foil and bake 20 more minuets.
It should be perfect if it is too wobbly bake 10 more minuets.

Let cool 30 minuets then enjoy!
Keeping It Simple

Lunar Eclipse winter 2010

This has been so much fun watching the lunar eclipse.
You would think it was Christmas as excited as my kids were.
We had fun drinking hot cocoa and watching the moon slowly disappear and then turn red.
I wish I would have thought to have gotten my tripod set up , so I could have gotten better pix.

So did you all watch the lunar eclipse?

Here is what you see when you get up the stairs.

Don't we have the best mountain view one my neighbors envy..

Our ding room.

Our family room with projection screen.
Not sure why the wall looks funky.

Knee sock sort of day..

The winds are blowing and howling.
My house feels like it is going to fall down at any moment and the windows sound like they are going to pop into tiny pieces.
We are on alert for high winds 75 miles and hour and hopefully by tomorrow we will be down to a mere 55 miles and hour.
I definitely think it is a soup night..

The Nativity

My room has always been called the simple Elegance room.
My rooms are always simple ( not) but very elegant.

This year I went with a black and white theme.
I used black wrapping paper as wall paper.
I made a white and black dropped ceiling with fabrics left over from Kadies wedding and added black glittered snowflakes.

One corner of my room.

Another corner

Sister Smith and Sister Grover in there country store room and Tami hanging out.

My friends Marty's room, bless her heart her daughter was medevaced to the mayo clinic opening day.
I love this room. She really knows how to touch ones hart.

Tami and I in front of the beautiful quilts We don't look so beautiful, And look at little Arvie sneaking in to the shot.

Last but not least Kadie and Dan game me this memorial angel for William..
I was very touched and put it on the tree. Every year decorate the nativity room for William for his birthday gift..
I cant believe that tomorrow will be his 5th birthday.

Quick photo shoot.

This last week has been so filled with work fun and good friends..
I mentioned in earlier post that I was decorating a room at church for our towns Christmas celebration.
Well my poor family has not seen me until today.
We were driving home from church and it was just so beautiful out that I told every one we had to have a photo shoot.
We quickly changed and went out side.
Here is our first shot not bad.
This is how we really are.
The girls
The boys

The parents.

My favorite

I also loved this test shot and how we are all looking down.

By the way it is a warm 4 degrees out today.
I loved how all the pix turned out..
Tomorrow I will share pix of the Nativity..

The Nativity!

Every year at this time our little town turns magical.
Shops turn into wonderlands.
You will see candy cane and Christmas trees on light poles.
You will see carolers out and about.
You can take a ride from the big city into our little town while eating breakfast with Santa.
We call it Colony Christmas.
The best part of this celebration is what happens at the local LDS church on Arctic.
Many helping hands spend 5 days turning the church in to the most amazing sight.
Rooms transform into winter wonderland, international delights, country stores, celestial peace, and some rooms are just simply elegant.

In these room you will see the most beautiful Nativities, there is about 1,200.
You will be entertained by the Valley's best performers and blessed to see the little children reenact the Nativity.

It truly is amazing.
It brings the Christmas spirit like nothing else can.
If you are a local it is a must see.
Here are post and pictures form years past.

For the past 3 years I have decorated a room for William for his birthday.

It is a way for me to give him a gift and serve the community.
But selfishly it gives me so much joy and pleasure.
This will be my last year and I am so sad.
I think it is the hardest part of leaving.
I decided to really make my room fun and super elegant this year.

What is more elegant than Black and white.
My walls will be papered in black and white damask and my ceiling will be white with black glittery snowflakes.
I will have splashes of red and gold.
I totally cant wait to see my vision work.

Needless to say I will be a busy bee this week.
